FULL DAY GAUCHO TOUR with Lunch
Saturday, November 10, 2018
9:00AM - approx. 8 hours
$209.00 per person
A minimum of 15 passengers is needed for this tour to operate.
Description:
Today, you leave Buenos Aires city to San Antonio de Areco, set in the heart of Argentina's Pampas. (110 kilometers / 69 miles) (8h) You will enjoy the most authentic and original visit to the Pampas, interacting with San Antonio de Areco's locals and discover a part of Argentina's identity. San Antonio de Areco is a Historical Town and it is known as the “Cradle of Tradition”.
This preserved colonial town, founded more than 280 years ago; with its cobbled streets, old bars (“Pulperías”) and Estancias, has kept alive the gaucho lifestyle and customs. Set on the banks of the peaceful “Areco” river, the town has retained the authentic atmosphere of a small old village with its “siesta” time, artisan´s shops and very relaxed people. Over 30 different silversmiths make this town the center of the traditional Argentinian silverworks known as “platería criolla”. In a variety of distinctive styles they produce gaucho´s knives, jewelry and many fine pieces of art, on their workshops open to the public.
Walking tour for about 1h–1h 30 min to discover “hidden treasure stores” around this little town.
Visit a typical "Pulperia", the place where the gauchos met (and meet nowadays) to have drinks and chat.
Visit to Draghi's Silversmith Museum: Cultural highlight: meet with Mariano Draghi, silversmith artisan and son of the founder of Draghi's Museum. He will tell us how his father was the first silversmith in town and how he learnt his trade. A fascinating story.
**In case Mariano is not in town another artisan will meet us
Afterwards, transfer to Estancia Ombu de Areco working ranch with barbecue lunch. In the surrounding lush farmlands, the old “Estancias” mainly breed cattle and horses, or cultivate soy, corn and wheat. The gauchos perform their tasks in the old fashion way, over their well-groomed horses and the main diet still is “mate” and beef. You can see them sporting berets or wide-brimmed hats, knotted scarves, and their traditional loose trousers (bombachas) with ornamented belts (tirador). Guests will have the chance to taste the best Argentine barbecue and assorted salads. Dessert will be served while a guitar player will entertain with its music.
Time for Horse-back/Carriage riding
An afternoon tea with local delicacies will be offered to end the visit and return to Buenos Aires.

Iguazú Falls - nature blessed the Argentine, Brazilian and Paraguayan border with a show of her splendid talent. Iguazú Falls leave every visitor speechless. Imagine standing a few meters away from an impressive mass of water; a total of 275 falls dropping over 70m (230ft.). Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) is the most impressive waterfall, where the falling water gives the illusion of magical rainbows. The National Park is full of exotic subtropical vegetation surrounding the falls: several plant species with giant trees, ferns, lianas and orchids, 400 species of colorful birds (toucans, parrots, woodpeckers, humming birds and butterflies, with fascinating vivid colors and designs), and other fauna such as jaguar, tiger-cat, foxes, tapir, monkeys. Iguazu National Park was designated World Heritage Site by UNESCO, while the close Jesuit Missions have been declared Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Iguazu Falls National Park is a magic place in the world recently voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed at Puerto Iguazú airport and taken to Argentina National Park.
Tour of the Argentinean side of the falls: You will arrive to the Visitors Center and board a gas-propelled train at the main station, which takes you to the upper falls circuit and the Devil’s Throat (Garganta del Diablo), the most prominent and one of the highest falls. Be surprised by a strategic lookout point resting on the side of the gorgeous Devil’s Throat. Then, you can walk more than 3km (1.87mi.) along the Iguassu river canyon, via the lower circuit and the upper circuit to appreciate the flora and fauna, always feeling the almost 270 individual waterfalls up close.
Also, included is the Great Adventure Tour (1h 30min / 2 h)

All terrain trucks go through the jungle for about 6km in the humid subtropical forest as far as the banks of the Iguazú River. From here you will board special boats that will take you, at high speed, to enjoy one of the most unforgettable experiences: the direct and wet contact with the mighty Iguassu Falls! You will get off the boat at the base of the Falls, on catwalk that connects to the lower circuit of the Falls. This tour can be started in the reverse direction, from this catwalk downwards ending with the jungle truck ride.
At the given time, transfer back to Puerto Iguazú airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires.

While taking in the sites, we will also get to learn about the history of the area. On the way back to Buenos Aires you will drive through the Northern residential districts of the city, until getting San Isidro, a colonial and aristocratic area. Once arriving in San Isidro, we will be able to get out of the bus and stretch our legs at the city center. Here we will have some free time to explore, shop, and eat. We will also have some time to take in the beauty of the area from the Cathedral of San Isidoro located on the coastline. Once departing San Isidoro, we will make our way back to our hotel.
